Using a business model approach to web design
The web has no doubt provided a vast canvas for some of the greatest modern-day artists in the world. However, while a web site’s design might impress its visitors, is it effective? Dell, Netflix, Monster, and MySpace are just a few names of companies which did not earn their success by making it up as they went. They had a plan. Unfortunately, most small businesses cannot afford a detailed strategy for every aspect of their business. However, when it comes to web site development, not only can you afford to invest in such research and planning, you can’t afford not to. If we didn’t research every project and formulate a strategy, we would have to raise our prices because our developers would
inevitably make unforeseen mistakes, waste resources developing unnecessary components, and likely have to redo many aspects of the project. On the other hand, not only will research-driven web development streamline the development process, keep costs down and the project on focus, it will also result in a marketing-effective and profitable web presence for our clients.
What is a CCI Web Model?
CCI stands for Company Customer Interface, and it represents the essential components of a web site that facilitate the interaction and business processes between a company and its customers. A CCI web model details specifications for some of the project’s components or segments, while providing guidelines for others. It documents and organizes a web strategy and guides the development process, providing a reference for the developers working on the project. When a developer has to make a design decision critical to the effectiveness of the web site, he or she will consult the web model rather than make a bias decision based on creative insight alone.
